Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all the years have gone by
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit terrified
And then I see the look in your eyes
Yes, I know everyone is 100% burned out on the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” references but I. Just. Could. Not. Help. Myself. Sidebar: the eclipse here was a bit of a bust. I saw some of it with my eclipse glasses early on but mostly it was hidden behind afternoon storm clouds. 🙁
YEP! The first day of school was on Monday here in Mayberry. Amazingly, both kids were up and ready with time to spare for the obligatory first day of school photos, and for the first time EVER the photos weren’t dreadful AND there was no yelling.
I am not certain why it had never occurred to me before today to pose the kids with the picket fence in the background. Eight years we’ve been in this house and we’ve had lots of first days of school and Easter mornings when I took horrid photos in front of bushes that cast a strange light onto their faces. Better late than never, right?
Looking forward to a great school year!

Nathan looks so good in glasses! The frames are super cute. And Sarah Kate looks very grown up and mature.

Oh, these are such wonderful pictures of two of the most wonderful kids, ever! Sweet Sarah Kate is so pretty, and I’m lovin’ her cute hairstyle! Nathan is a doll! I must agree — he looks so handsome in his glasses! (Super frames! I like the blue in them, too!) Nathan is such a great boy!
As for the years passing quickly, yes, it seems like they flow on and on, at will, much like trying to hold sand in our fist. And yet, God’s grace is holding us while we hold onto Him, allowing and helping us wrap our lives, intertwined, with theirs. What a beautiful gift.
Wishing y’all a splendid school year!

Sarah Kate and Nathan both look really fine in this photo. Glad to see the love and the bond between big sister and brother, she really looks after Nathan very well. That love is genuine as the Alabama sun!
