Remember how on Monday I mentioned that we weren’t able to go to the beach on Sunday because Nathan had a fever? Well, after a few days of no other symptoms he finally developed a cough (though, oddly, it was only present when his fever was up) and on Wednesday the verdict came in: pneumonia.
Blech.
Since he’s had the mycoplasma variety before, and it’s gone around here fairly regularly the past couple of years, his doctor decided to go right for the mycoplasma jugular, rather than risk what happened last time. He’s doing better today, but we’ve down this road before, so I’m saying a prayer and crossing my fingers that it isn’t a month long ordeal this go ‘round.
When we sit down at night for family dinner, we always say Grace together, right after we put each of the dogs in their crates with their food bowls so they can eat while we do. Rarely do any of us start breakfast or lunch at the same time, however, so we’re all on our own for Grace at those meals. However, on Tuesday morning I picked up cinnamon rolls for Nathan and me after we dropped Sarah Kate off at swim practice. Since the two of us were at the table together, we said Grace. As soon as she heard, “Bless us, O Lord…” Stella ran and jumped into the crate.
Speaking of dogs… “Who wants some cheese?” said Mr. Andi on Thursday afternoon when he got home from work and fixed himself a snack. Four bodies willing did “Down” in order to obtain a bite…and we only have three dogs.
Remember when I had Grand Plans to reupholster the wingback recliner? Well, I am proud to say that the chair is finally DONE! I feel an incredible sense of accomplishment that I was actually able to do this thing, tinged with a wee bit of worry that I somehow ended up with two extra screws that I know were part of the chair when I took it apart and now I don’t know where they go. I also learned a valuable lesson: people who upholster furniture are worth Every. Penny. Trust me on this.
Do you use the Timehop app? I just got turned on to it a few weeks ago, and it’s been fun to look back at what we were doing one, two, three, or more years ago. On Thursday, Timehop showed me the photo of Nathan that was posted by the International Down Syndrome Coalition. It was one of a handful of captioned photos they had begun sharing in order to spread awareness about Down syndrome. Nathan’s photo was the first of the series to go viral, and while it attracted a lot of positive attention, a not-insignificant number of people had negative things to say, as well.
Coincidentally, a friend tagged me on Thursday afternoon, a few hours after I checked my Timehop. Three years later, Nathan is still traveling around the interwebs, and that same IDSC-captioned photo had shown up in her feed.
Speaking of my kids going viral, do you know what happened one year ago this week? Sarah Kate’s (first) RunDisney video was published! Let’s take a look back, shall we?
I would give anything for there to be video of that day, not just still images, but I am thankful I had my camera and took so many photos. I still can’t get over the crowd’s reaction. I had no idea when she was pushing that wheelchair toward the finish line what lay ahead.
If you haven’t yet checked out the Ultimate Digital Photography Bundles, don’t wait long! You can learn more about the Beginner bundle here or the Intermediate Bundle here. This Monday, June 29, is the last day they will be available!
Have a Great Weekend!

Haha, loved the “grace” story, and “down” 🙂

I think Sarah Kate really goes the distance in her running.
