The Endless Summer is almost over.
And I don’t mean “Endless Summer” in a good way. 🙂
Sarah Kate has been home from school since April 2 – over four months! – and the rehab has been going on for over two. We’ve been in potty training hell for … too long. But both kids will be back in school in another week and a half so our summer really is coming to an end.
But before it does, we’re taking a road trip – leaving today for Atlanta to stay with my sister, where we’ll be until Sunday, then we’ll head to Birmingham for a couple of days. While we’re in Atlanta, we’ll pop in to see a college friend of mine and go to her son’s first birthday party, have lunch at the American Girl Bistro, and I don’t know what all else. My sister is like a cruise director so she has all manner of fun things planned. 🙂
Nathan has another sleep study scheduled and Sarah Kate has a follow up appointment with her rehab doctor, so we’ll visit my dad and stepmom and do the Children’s Hospital tour in Birmingham, plus have a lunch with another friend of mine. Oh, and on the way up today we’re stopping in Auburn to have lunch with my friend AnnMarie, who’s moving her daughter into Auburn for her senior year.
It’s going to be a whirlwind trip.
I will have Snippets tomorrow, but beyond that I’ll just have to see how things go until we get back. If I don’t make the regular posts, I’ll at least be ticking the days off via Instagram if you’d like to follow along over there. I promise to post about the trip, though, at some point. It should be entertaining. 🙂

They are great! G didn’t realize I had posted a review of them on Tuesday, and when I picked him up at speech the first thing she said to me was, “I LOVE that him using these at home!”

I just have to tell you Andi that I started following your blog via Courtney over at Pudge and Biggs because of Nathan (my daughter Joey is 16 months and is T21 also), and Nathan is about as cute as a kid can come (I ADORE him), but it is Sarah Kate who I find absolutely riveting. I peeked over at your Instagram photos from the link above and shed tears watching the video of her walking and letting loose of one of her canes. There is something about the look on her face, the steel determination in her jaw that just makes me feel like absolutely anything is possible for this kid….I hope that I will be able to follow her journey for many years to come, because there are amazing things in store for her, I have no doubt.

Thanks so much, Jenn! Every kid is special, but she has something that Mr. Andi and I have been calling “star quality” ever since she was very small – it may have even started as far back as the NICU, because the nurses seemed to be drawn to her even then. People tell me all the time how amazing they think she is, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she is so comfortable in her own skin – never rattled, low drama, and very approachable. I wish I were that way!
