Boy Scout troop caters to boys with special needs – The Scoutmaster has cerebral palsy, and is a cousin of my good friend, Katie. According to her, he originally applied to lead the troop he was in as a boy but wasn’t approved, so started this new one – it’s now much bigger than the first one!

Graduate refuses to walk without disabled twin brother – The longer I think on it, the more I believe that it will be the siblings who change the world, not parents like me.
Parents of special-needs children wrestle with the question: When should they leave home? – Um, yeah…I don’t want to talk about it right now.

As a Scouting family and as a person with special needs people in my life, I love the first article so much. One thing I love about the program is that we have opportunities for individuals to join Troops that specialize in special needs, but it’s also a program that can be inclusive. Our Troop has already had Eagles with various needs and we currently have another young man with a sn diagnosis who is on that path! It’s a team but it’s not a competition. Anyone can get the prize, with the right leadership. I’m super proud of my husband as a leader but super proud of the entire program for the opportunities it offers. 🙂
