Worst snippet ever: an admission I am very late getting these up today. Sometimes you just gotta do the best you can, and this is the best I could manage this week!
Here’s a common scene in my house at night.
We don’t shut Nathan’s door when we put him to bed at night – he does it himself, then goes to sleep on the floor right behind the door.

Speaking of the nighttime routine, the last hug of the night is The Best. I know it’s just Nathan’s way of stalling a little bit longer, but when he comes to tell me goodnight before Mr. Andi puts him to bed, he gives the best hug and he isn’t squirmy at all. My favorite moment of the day!

The tomatoes are coming! Mr. Andi and Sarah Kate have tomatoes about to ripen in the planter. They are quite fascinated with the tomatoes in the planter and the rest of the growing things in the raised bed garden – so much so that Mr. Andi built a second raised bed next to the first. I don’t have much of a green thumb – in fact, I almost killed the plants in the raised bed when Mr. Andi went out of town fishing for 48 hours – but they are happy.

After Tuesday’s post about Nathan, the Very Worst Brother, my friend Lyle suggested I check out the story of St. Joseph of Cupertino. While I’m not sure how similar Nathan is to ol’ Joe, I could certainly relate to his mom. 😉 I briefly considered getting a print of him to hang in Nathan’s room, but then I realized that most of the art depicting him shows him flying and that’s not really behavior I want to encourage.
I promised you a Mr. Andi story, but I’m SO late getting these up that I’m going to postpone it another week. It’s probably going to be a letdown after all the unnecessary hype. Instead, I will share with you that my Cesar Millan method has not worked – Nathan isn’t so keen on the morning walks anymore – so any ideas you have for tiring out a small boy first thing in the morning would be awesome.
Also, any great ideas for things I could do that would keep him from getting up at 5:00 a.m. would be even more awesome.
How does everyone feel about me adding a “Throwback Thursday”-type feature to the blog? Maybe Wayback Wordless Wednesday? I had great fun last week looking at old photos from when Sarah Kate was little and thought it might be fun to share some of them. Nathan’s entire life has been documented here, but not Sarah Kate’s. If adding an extra day of blogging is too much, what about substituting a couple of Thursday posts each month? Thoughts?
Have a great weekend!

Love the tomato plants – they look beautiful. Just think of all the tomatoes you get to eat in a couple months. I’m so jealous, I never got around to getting some going.

It’s hot as soon as the sun comes up. Get a fun sprinkler and let him run
In the yard while you wake up

I think the throwback idea is great! Would love to see earlier photos of your sweet family.
