Sun-Beams is a collection of links to stories, articles, photos, or videos I have come across that I believe will inspire, inform, or encourage you, as well as my favorite photo posted on my other blog, Violet Film, from the past week.
A blind student’s unique place in college hoops – Color me impressed. Could you call basketball games on the radio if you’d never seen a game?
In the ‘silent prison’ of autism, Ido speaks out – A fascinating look inside the mind of a young man with autism, and his message to educators.
Heartwarming Moment Man With Down Syndrome Learns He’s College-Bound – I’m sharing because it’s all over the place (I googled “Down syndrome” under news and most of the first FIVE pages of links were to variations of this story), but if I’m being honest, I don’t get why the video is approaching 1.5 million views. It’s sweet, I’m glad for him, and if he were my kid I’d be super-proud, but is this really a viral-quality video? What am I missing?
Ward Miles – First Year – Right off the bat I’ll warn you that this video is almost seven minutes long. But I love it, anyway, because it reminds me so much of Sarah Kate’s early days when she was born premature (almost) eleven years ago. The scene at the beginning with the mom – that was me.
