Quandary of Hidden Disabilities: Conceal or Reveal? – Interesting piece on the challenges facing those with disabilities in the workplace (and before they are hired)
Actors With Disabilities In Big Roles? ‘We Don’t Have A Chance’ – On the one hand, I’m happy that we’re seeing characters with disabilities more often, but I have to agree that they should most often be played by people who actually have the disability.
Why I’m Happy About Disney’s New Disability Pass Restrictions – I’m reserving judgment, and I do see how the new system could be excellent for people with sensory issues (and said so to people who asked my opinion when the story first broke). In our case, though, and unlike the author, we haven’t been shuttled to the front of the line on every attraction, and I’m still concerned about things will go for people with mobility issues.
How My Daughter Became Wet Seal’s First Model With Down Syndrome – So many great lessons in this piece, I don’t know where to start!
Athlete with Down syndrome gets civil rights award – A new chapter in the story of Eric Dompierre
Photo of the Week:
Sarah Kate and I decided to run the Honeybee 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, and we put a little wager on the outcome. Her previous 1-mile fun run time was 25:58 and I ran 3.1 in a time trial recently in a time of 25:47, so whoever had the better time got breakfast in bed today. As it turned out, her race was only 3/4 of a mile, but I’m calling her the winner because her pace was 23:55 – much faster than my 5K time!
