Because I know you are dying to see Juan, Soldier of DeSoto – who will do double duty as St. Joan of Arc next week, here you go:
You’ll have to wait until Halloween for her horse. It’ll be worth the wait, I promise. 🙂
Remember our buddy Noah VanVooren that we met on our Mayberry Road Trip last year? Well, he’s in the news again. Check out this great story on Noah.
This week was Red Ribbon Week at the schools, which is some sort of anti-drug thing with themed days for the kids. On Wednesday, the kids were supposed to be “SMART” about drugs and dress nerdy for school. I loaned Sarah Kate my T-shirt to wear that reads (in the “Star Wars” font, no less), “Come to the Dork Side. We Have Π.”
I was pretty sure that her classmates wouldn’t know what Π is so I asked her if she remembered what it was and how it was used from when I explained to her about a year ago when I first got the shirt from Sarah. She went to her room, pulled out the piece of scratch paper that I had written on to explain Pi and proudly proclaimed, “I saved the paper because I was sure I would need it someday! BAM!”
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only nerd in our house.
And lest you think the nerdiness is limited to the females in the family, Mr. Andi’s contribution to Red Ribbon Week included graph paper, estimates of the size of an average elementary-aged child, a fair amount of math, staking flags, spray paint, and a bucket truck in order to produce this photo of 1200 students in Mayberry:
If you’re a reader of Jennifer Fulwiler, you may have seen the references to personality types (go here if you’d like to take the test and find out about yourself). I’ve taken these tests several times and already knew I am an INTJ, but to my knowledge Mr. Andi never had. So he did.
ESTP. Almost the complete polar opposite of me.
What he gained from the whole exercise was the knowledge that my personality type includes such dignitaries as Vladimir Putin, Augustus Caesar, Thomas Jefferson, and John F. Kennedy, whereas the ESTP list included … Madonna.
Hmmm….
Despite all of the hours over the years that I’ve spent with my Sigma Kappa sisters from all over the country who are national volunteers, until this week not one of them had ever met my whole family. Crazy, right? Megan Crain was the first to meet both kids AND Mr. Andi when she came to Mayberry on business on Thursday. She was warmly welcomed.
Are you watching the new season of Nashville this year? Even if you aren’t (and you should be!), watch the clip below or by clicking here and listen to the song (skip ahead to 0:40 if you don’t want to bother with the dialogue), “A Life That’s Good”. I think it may be my new favorite song.
Have a great weekend!

It’s good I got you that shirt when I had the chance. The hospital moved so I’m not going to MoS in my free time anymore 🙁 I’m kinda bummed.
Andi says
I love my shirt!!!

You’re making me want to take that personality test. I know we took one when we did marriage prep but I don’t remember what I was. I’ve always figured it was like an IQ test–interesting, but probably not all that useful to know. 🙂

Mr. Andi and I had a lot of fun with it. Or, more specifically, he did when he realized he was Madonna and I was Putin. There may have been some dancing and some discussion of feisty short people…

I am obsessed with Nashville right now and those girls are one of the best parts of the show. I wish they would let them sing more often. It’s nice to see two talented young ladies who don’t have to work trashy.

I am also INTJ, and so is Tisa Mason. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the horse. . . .
