A friend shared this video of a dog greeting his returning soldier owner. It’s not unlike the reception that pretty much anyone in our family gets from Stella when we’ve been gone more than five minutes. 😉 Click to watch or go here.
Remember last year when I harassed you all for a month so you’d vote for Nathan in the Most Beautiful Eyes contest? He was the Alabama winner, but didn’t make it to the Big Show (what?!?), so I’m having another go at it – with Sarah Kate! The photo I chose isn’t actually all that great, which makes me a total slacker for contest purposes, but go vote anyway. Pretty please.

I dare you to read this without crying. Might we soon have a saint with Down syndrome?

We’re back to Birmingham for another sleep study next week. I am expecting rainbows and unicorns and good results confirming Nathan’s adenotonsillectomy DID THE TRICK! and the sleep apnea is GONE FOR GOOD! and there are no breathing apparatuses (apparati?) in our future. Because two non-consecutive nights of this is all I can handle in one lifetime.

I didn’t make my word count goal for July, but I’m okay with that. I haven’t talked about it much on the blog, but I injured my back on the Monday after Independence Day and between the struggle to sit, stand, or lay down comfortably, coupled with the other interventions, I had to skip writing altogether on some days. But I still managed to get my ebook out on time, so … WOOT! … and I have some momentum going forward.
Sarah Kate asked to read my ebook this week. Her request kind of threw me for a loop, because – let’s face it – the book is about all the reasons it was hard to be her mom for the first few years. I do worry sometimes about how she’s going to feel about this blog as she grows, but for some reason it never occurred to me to worry about the ebook. I uploaded it to her Kindle, though, and told her she was free to read it and to please let me know what she thinks.
Speaking of my ebook 🙂 the Kindle version is now available. I was planning to make a grand announcement the week of August 12 (and heck, I probably still will…), but since you stuck with me through all seven snippets I’ll let you in on the secret.
Have a great one!
