Sun-Beams is a collection of links to stories, articles, photos, or videos I have come across that I believe will inspire, inform, or encourage you, as well as my favorite photo posted on my other blog, Violet Film, from the past week.
Life with Down syndrome is full of possibilities – It’s a bit of a fluff piece, but still good, particularly when you contrast it with this brief history of Down syndrome (don’t skip it – so important!)
West Warwick to honor Jason Pisano with 5K road race in his name – I included a link about Pisano in Sun-Beams almost two years ago highlighting his achievement of completing over 50 marathons in a wheelchair, propelling himself with one foot. He died last year, and I’m happy to see that he’s being honored in this way.
With Documentary, PBS Looks At Life On The Spectrum – DVR ALERT! I’m always on the lookout for shows featuring the differently-abled, whether documentary or drama.
Pilning student with Down Syndrome Olivia Watkins, 21, is an inspiration – Okay, so I hate the headline. H-A-T-E. Hate. It. But I love the last sentence/quote from Olivia. It’s just so … normal. 🙂
And one more flashback – to Steve Wampler, who I featured awhile back for his ascent of El Capitan with severe cerebral palsy. A documentary has been made of his climb and the trailer is available now. Click to view or go here for the trailer and more information about Steve and how to view the film.

Hi! I love your blog. Just wanted to recommend a documentary – if you have HBO or HBO GO, it is on there. It’s called The Crash Reel and it follows the story of a pro snowboarder who has an accident and brain injury. It also follows his amazing family which includes his brother with Down Syndrome and a lot about him- highly recommend watching it!
