Have you ever boarded a flight when the weather was nasty?
From the ground, the sky was dark and it may even have been storming. It was one of those dismal, gloomy days when all you want to do is go back home, climb in bed, and wait for the sun to come out again. The last thing you wanted was to get on a plane with turbulence.
But once that plane took off, soared up through the clouds, and leveled off at a safe cruising altitude, what did you see? Blue skies and sunshine for miles and miles, with beautiful puffy clouds beneath your feet like a bed of cotton. The weather didn’t change, but your mood did, as you gazed across that beautiful sky. What was the difference?
Perspective.

You just read the introduction to my brand new ebook, There’s Sunshine Behind the Clouds: Surviving the Early Years as a Special Needs Mom. The hardest times for me as a special mom were the early years for Sarah Kate – up to about age four. I was an avid reader and researcher, but during those early years it seemed that everything I read depressed me; I wanted to hear that I wasn’t alone and that things would get better. I never found a book like that.
So I wrote one.
There’s Sunshine Behind the Clouds is the book that I wish I’d had when life felt unfair and difficult. If it helps one parent get through those tough early years, then it’s been worth every minute I spent creating it. It doesn’t give advice on time management or negotiating medical bills, but focuses instead on how to not just survive the emotional roller coaster, but enjoy the ride. It was intentionally written to be a short, quick read so that you could finish it in one sitting and refer to it easily again and again.
I’m also offering it completely free, with no strings attached. You don’t have to provide me with your email, promote it on your Facebook page, or give me anything I return, but if you think it’s a quality piece, I’d appreciate a tweet, a post, or a share.

Currently, There’s Sunshine Behind the Clouds is available in PDF format only. Stay tuned for a Kindle option to be released in a few weeks.
