Nathan has been doing a lot of seated activities while he’s been sick (which, I have to say, I don’t hate), but that doesn’t stop him from grabbing my iPhone whenever it’s unattended. His favorite app? The Weather Channel. On startup it shows an image of a bright blue sky with a few clouds, and he yells and signs “sky” with great gusto.
Did you watch the departure of B16 yesterday? I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to watch history happening before my eyes. And of course now I want to visit Rome and the Vatican.
I managed to escape from the house for a couple of hours yesterday to… go to Nathan’s first IEP meeting. I was both looking forward to it and dreading it. I’m ready for him to start preschool, but I recall vividly how emotionally tough those meetings can be. I’ll have more on that in a full post next week. Assuming we aren’t struck with the Black Plague between now and then.
I will mention one thing interesting that came out of the IEP meeting that I wasn’t expecting. The kids in preschool wear uniforms, just like the older kids. So in the next two weeks I have to get my hands on some (cheap!) plain solid navy polo shirts….in a size 24 months. I think we have enough khaki pants and shorts, but the shirts may prove a challenge.
In spite of all the roadblocks that were thrown in my way last week, I did run the New Orleans Marathon on Sunday. In fact, not only did I run it, but I also set a new personal record for the marathon by a whopping 16 minutes and 52 seconds! New time to beat – 4:42.
Long time readers will recognize that number as under what my goal was for the Disney Marathon last month (and the Marine Corp Marathon in 2009…). Finally!
After I wrote the snippet referring to my brain as fried Jello last week, my friend Donna tweeted asking me if such a thing existed. I told her I’d never heard of it, but you never know. Well, Fried Jello does indeed exist! People will seriously fry anything.
Softball Opening Day is tomorrow. We haven’t quite figured out how we’re going to work it, as it’s supposed to be cold (don’t ask me how cold, I don’t feel like being mocked this morning) and Nathan can’t be out in it (though it could be worse – I was supposed to be traveling this weekend to Indianapolis). But…neither of us wants to miss seeing Sarah Kate play her very first game, and we are supposed to be helping with fundraising.
It’s a conundrum.
Have a great weekend!

Was just getting ready to leave the same comment!

They sell ‘uniform apparel’ for all ages 🙂
Megan says
Do you have a local Old Navy? I just got a coupon for $15 off your purchase of $50 or more, but it is in-store only (expires 3/3). If you want it, just send me an email and I’ll happily forward. I don’t plan to use it.

You guys are so awesome! Not only did Old Navy have both navy polos and khaki shorts and pants in his size, but they are all on sale right now!
Thanks for the offer, Megan – we do have a local store, but with Nathan sick and softball tomorrow, it was easier just to order (not sure if the coupon would work with sale items, anyway). But I definitely appreciate it!

The other place to check is JC Penney – they had the reinforced knees on some of their pants, if that is an issue – used to mix and match between JCP and Old Navy when my son was in the “non-required uniforms” Current school embroidered shirts and pants…

I’ve also ordered uniforms from French Toast. it’s been awhile, so I don’t remember how small the sizes go. They too had reinforced knees.
Its a shame you can’t get the doc to write a prescription for an I-something for Nathan. Then he could have his own. 🙂
Andi says
He actually does have his own (sort of). I had the original iPad and when I upgraded, no one else in the fam claimed it because SK and Mr. Andi have Kindle Fires. So…I bought an Otterbox on steep discount and now it’s his.

My first reaction to reading your comment about the uniform was to wonder if my kids had any left over navy polos in that size. As if you live down the street from me instead of across the country. 🙂 I’m glad other readers came through with such great tips!
