It’s March 21, which means it’s World Down Syndrome Day!
Three copies of chromosome 21 – 3/21, get it?
Anywho…I should probably write a super-awesome post about how wonderful people with T21 are, what a shame it is that so many people in the world are blind to their awesomeness, and all that jazz. But the truth is that I’m just happy to have my little guy creating a path of destruction through my house this morning the likes of which haven’t been seen since early February.
That’s right – he’s better.
And while I know we’re supposed to keep our Alleluias to a minimum during Lent, I couldn’t help but toss out a hearty Alleluia! on Wednesday when he ran through the halls of the doctor’s office like a wild hellion and when he ate every bit of his breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks and even asked for seconds a couple of times.
So today you won’t get a thoughtful post on Down syndrome and instead I’ll give you photos from his first week in public preschool (complete with uniforms). Stick around to the end and I’ll thrown in a special treat – the IDSC for Life’s World Down Syndrome Day video. Nathan isn’t in it this year (somehow we didn’t find the time to submit…) but it’s a treat nonetheless.
And yes, I know he doesn’t look thin in this photo, but the Buddha belly really is gone – he’s just leaning back a little and his pants, which make him look he has huge hips, are way too big on him and nearly fell down seconds after I quit shooting. Did I mention they are a size 18 months?

So glad to read that he is feeling better. And, I know it’s probably a pain to gather a bunch of uniform-style clothing for preschoolers, but I think littles in school uniforms just may be on the top of my list of things that I find irresistably adorable. 😉
