Did you miss me yesterday? I skipped posting on a Thursday for the first time since I moved to this domain in May 2011. Never fear, though, it was not an oversight. I wanted to concentrate on our Thanksgiving, so I consciously chose to skip that one day. But I’ll have an extra post here on Monday to make up for it. Because I’m a giver like that. 😉
As much as I love my family, I was kind of glad we stayed home for Thanksgiving this year. Mr. Andi and I are both children of divorced parents, all four of whom remarried many years ago, so there’s a certain I-feel-like-a-piñata quality to holidays. But I did miss my Gramma’s pumpkin chiffon pie.
And, as it turned out, our small family Thanksgiving dinner was smaller than expected by 25%. Nathan was sick with a stomach something or other and spent the morning writhing in pain and vomiting. Mercifully for him (and the other three of us), he passed out on the love seat and slept through lunch.
I went out on a limb this year and made oyster dressing for Mr. Andi. It’s a gulf coast Thanksgiving staple, but I’ve never made it before. In fact, I kind of made up my own recipe after researching a couple of dozen variations. Mr. Andi said it was delish, so…mission accomplished. I did have a mini-fail, though. We were supposed to have asparagus with our meal, which I forgot about until it was time to carve the turkey and dig in. So with the exception of the Cajun-injected turkey, our plates were very “starchy.”
I have a confession to make. On Wednesday, I missed posting a photo for my 365 project for the first time since January 1, 2011. A couple of times before (while traveling) I messed up and posted my Photo of the Day only to Flickr then posted it later on my blog, but I did have a photo for that day. This time was different – I just plain forgot. I’m not sure how you can forget to do something you’ve been doing every day for almost two years, but there it is.
I love how much Sarah Kate loves her little brother. Sometimes that love manifests itself with flash cards, books, and other learning activities, so I frequently have the opportunity to capture images like this one.
And like most young siblings, he likes to imitate the older sibling. So sometimes I have the opportunity to capture images like this one of him paying it forward.
Have a great weekend!
