Labradoodles may be the most patient dogs EVER. At least my friend Katie’s dog Tillie is. Nathan climbed on her, put his hands in her food bowl while she was eating, flopped onto her dog bed when she was about to lay down, and followed her around like she was the Pied Piper for the better part of four days. She never once seemed annoyed.
You know how when you are looking for a table at a quick service eatery and are really grossed out when you see that disgusting table with all of the food on it and underneath it and you wonder what kind of disgusting people would leave it like that?
Um, yeah…that’s our calling card – at least when it’s just me and the kids on a road trip and I’m desperately trying to get us all out of there in one piece.
Ice cream and Oreos are better when they’re put together in a way that creates a Mickey Mouse head.
No, really – I’m not That Mom Who Takes the Kids On a Spontaneous Road Trip. When a friend heard what I was doing, she commented that she wished she was the kind of mom who would do things like that. I responded that I’m not That Mom – I just decided that for once I wanted to be. It’s healthy to do something outside of your comfort zone every once in awhile. Planning is good, but spontaneous works sometimes, too.
Keep your camera on hand at all times so you can catch the special moments before they’re gone forever, but don’t hesitate to put the camera down so you can be fully present in the moment. I got some great shots of the team at the Dixie Youth World Series, but I missed a lot more because I was cheering. That’s called balance…
Come back tomorrow for the final installment of Mayberry Road Trip! Day One, Day Two, Day Three, and Day Four were posted earlier this week.
Have you voted for Nathan yet in the Most Beautiful Eyes Contest? Yes, I’m going to continue to post annoying reminders to all of my readers for the next three weeks. So sorry…but not, because I want you to vote!
Have a great weekend!
