Sun-Beams is a collection of links to stories, articles, photos, or videos I have come across that I believe will inspire, inform, or encourage you, as well as my favorite photo posted on my other blog, Violet Film, from the past week.
In Defense of Down Syndrome children…Like My Son – A powerful piece that’s been making the rounds in the Ds community this week. I can relate to…pretty much every word.
Hoops Star Elena Della Donne treasures unique relationship with older sister – Keep in mind while you read this article that “professionals” would at one time have encouraged the sister to be institutionalized “for the good of the other children.”
Wheelchair athlete keeps active, raises awareness – It’s all about focusing on what you can do, not what you can’t.
Disability: A Thread for Weaving Joy – “Suffering is the thread from which the stuff of joy is woven. Never will the optimist know joy.” – Henri de Lubac. This piece is long, but worthwhile.
Photo of the Week:
I know this photo was already included in an earlier post, but it’s my favorite from the week.

I found you a couple weeks ago (though my memory fails as to the source). Loved the links – heard the Frank Deford piece on NPR on my way into work one morning & got a little misty-eyed.
Not so sure how I feel about the last one though – if I steal the link & perhaps post upon, would you mind?
And was wondering, since you’re a runner, if you’re going to the ndsc convention in July? We’re trying to organize a fun run there. 1mile or 5k, debating how early people would be willing to get up. [which I’m really hesitant to mention, given all the recent blog-spam issues, but it’s not for me!]
Anyway, nice to meet you!

I don’t mind at all – please send me the link when you do so that I can see what your “take” on it is.

Eek! And I apologize – I didn’t answer your second question. No, we won’t be attending NDSC this year, but if I were, I’d love to run a 5K! 🙂
