Nathan had speech and OT together on Thursday afternoon. Although it hasn’t been long since the speech therapist saw him, she commented that he seems to be vocalizing a lot more than when she was last here. I’m thinking maybe it’s the mirror.

We put the tree up on Sunday afternoon, which meant I spent all day on Monday saying “No” to Nathan. Those little baubles on the lower branches were SO tempting. I also had to banish the rolling zebra to the garage for the rest of the holiday season, as it kept getting wild hairs and trying to run up under the tree.

In keeping with my self-proclaimed Grinch status, I have to say that I’m already pretty sick of the Christmas carols (while decorating the tree, we listened to The Muppets soundtrack – Sarah Kate LOVES “We Built This City”). However…I would gladly listen to Christmas carols all day long if it meant I could escape Sarah Kate’s singing. She’s making up her own Christmas songs. She does not have a future as a songwriter.
On Black Friday, the one and only place I went shopping was Academy Sports, where Mr. Andi and I snagged a late-season deal on this mosaic tile fire pit. I envisioned relaxing winter evenings, watching the flames gently dancing against the inky backyard. We busted it out two nights in a row this week and what we got instead was a chatterbox eight year old and a toddler with a devilish gleam in his eye. It took all of my willpower not to say “Just! Stop! Talking!” after the 100th time Sarah Kate asked a question about fire, and after wrestling Nathan I felt like I’d just come out of the ring of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
But the roasted marshmallows were good.

December 8 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic church. Mr. Andi was out of town so I told Sarah Kate that we’d go out to eat after Mass and I’d let her pick where we went. She picked the Mexican restaurant in the gas station on the outskirts of town.
There should be no question that she’s my child. Fancy we are not.

I know what I’m getting for Christmas from Mr. Andi! At least I know what the main thing is (there’s another small package wrapped under the tree with my name on it). It’s a massive download of actions from Paint the Moon Photography for Photoshop Elements and he has already bought it. And they are already on my computer. In fact, I’ve already installed them and they are ready to go. It’s killing me not to use them. I’m using the heck outta some freebies right now.

Speaking of photography, I’ve decided to keep going into 2012 with my 365 photography project. Even though it’s been tough – REALLY tough – at times, it’s also been fun, I’ve learned a lot, and (best of all) I now have a wonderful collection of images documenting what our life was like in 2011.
Absolutely worth the pain.

I love the picture of Nathan what looks to be him screaming at the little boy in the mirror. Lacey loves her mirror but it gets so wet from her kissing the baby. I usually laugh because she still hasn’t realized the baby is her. She always looks at me so funny when she sees me give the baby a kiss. The best part was the other day at Speech, her Speech Therapist got out a big mirror and Lacey went behind the mirror to find the cute little girl. It’s moments like those that help reveal my stress for just a little bit. Also love the picture of Sarah Kate. I am always amazed all the stuff you can do with pictures. My kids say their Daddy is magic with his camera and computer. “Dad can fix anything wrong with a picture.”

Ha! Nathan kisses the baby, too. Take a close look and you’ll see all of the dried slobber. 🙂
