After seeing the video of a special little boy’s first early steps, I was inspired to pull out some old footage of Sarah Kate pre- and post- selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery, and to pull it all together into a montage with new footage from today (literally today – I made her go out and walk on the sidewalk after school while I filmed her with my iPhone!)
And of course I had to include references to running and to Disney….

I remember the day I met your family and Sarah Kate. This makes me so happy to see her doing so well. You're family really touched me. And I am so glad I found you again–after losing contact so many years ago.

I know I’m super late to this post, but I got here by clicking through from your Seven Snippets today and a post about Nathan. I’m sitting at my desk at work bawling. The first independent steps on 2/13 almost did me in. She’s so incredibly strong and beautiful and I’m so blessed to be able to witness her and Nathan’s accomplishments via your blog.

The raw video footage is even more gut-wrenching than the clip with music over it. The fear in her voice is SO difficult to hear – and was just as much so when I was in the room filming her. She’s a tough cookie – it’s amazing to see how far she’s come.
